The Solution

solution-droid-smallBy using the Android mobile platform, our team intends to develop a mobile application that will support users in their resistance training.  Whether the user needs to log their progress in a particular exercise or just wants to learn new exercises, this application will allow them to customize it to fit their needs.

The application will allow users to enter from various vantage points.  For example, users can find an exercise that is specific to a muscle group.  Other users can select a pre-determined workout plan based on their desired training goals.  The application will allow users to set a fitness level that will tailor the available settings appropriately.  Novice users can tread lightly by pursuing realistic goals, such as losing five pounds or taking 5,000 steps a day.  Advanced users can track muscle size, weight maximums and their progress over time with a specific exercise.  Through this customization, users can set unique goals and track their progress at any time.

Droid Trainer allows users to weigh in or get a quick workout in for the day.  For motivation, users can track and represent their progress visually through charts generated from their statistics.  By comparing with others, either anonymously or publicly, users can quickly see how they are performing.  This functionality would be implemented on an external web interface.
